The function of the plate cooler

Plate cooler  is an efficient heat exchange device with the following main functions:

High heat transfer coefficient: Due to the high turbulence of the fluid between the plates and the relatively thin plate thickness, the plate cooler has a high heat transfer coefficient. For instance, the heat transfer coefficient of water can reach 1500 to 4700 W/(㎡·K).

Compact structure: It provides a large heat transfer area per unit volume, with a heat transfer area of over 250 square meters per cubic meter. This enables the plate cooler to achieve efficient heat exchange within a limited space.

High operational flexibility: Multi-stage operation can be carried out by installing intermediate partitions, or the number of plates can be adjusted as needed to increase or decrease the heat transfer area, adapting to the requirements of flow and temperature changes of cold and hot fluids.

Easy to clean and maintain: The plates of the plate cooler are easy to process and manufacture, and are convenient for inspection and cleaning.

It is applicable to various working conditions: it can not only be used for cooling, but also for heating, preheating, condensation, waste heat recovery and other heat exchange functions.

Cost savings: It is widely used in evaporation and exhaust steam condensation, and the cooling water can be recycled and reused, saving investment and operating costs.

Other features: It has the characteristics of light weight, small floor space, low resistance and small pressure drop. These advantages can greatly improve the heat transfer coefficient and prevent the pressure drop on the cooling water side from being too large.

Plate coolers have a tendency to replace shell and tube heat exchangers within their applicable range because their heat transfer coefficient is much higher under the same flow resistance and pump power consumption.
